Chapter

The CREBA La Union Chapter (CREBALU) held its first organizational meeting on March 26, 1996 at the Sea and Sky Hotel. Its main objective was to develop the real estate industry of La Union by gathering in one organization the major stakeholders of the industry while helping small and medium scale developers of housing and tourism sites achieve their full potential through membership networking and linkages.

It also aimed to serve as a forum where the stakeholders could exchange views regarding the industry’s situation, and formulate advocacies to assist local legislators in promulgating laws and policies that will promote an economic environment where local stakeholders can cooperate and respond to the real estate needs of the province with government and private businesses being partners for progress.

The CREBA National Directorate designated Director Oscar P. Mabalot as the chief organizer of CREBALU. He was then the President of the Community Housing Association of La Union. Potential members in the region were invited, after which, they decided to elect an interim set of officers and the first induction ceremony was held at the Long Beach Resort Hotel in Bauang on May 14, 1996.

The generations of presidents who have served CREBA-La Union include: Oscar P. Mabalot, Atty. Rey Dulay, Arch. Eli Ruiz, Jr., the late Ambrocio L. Valero III, Reynaldo Nisce and Eduardo L. La Madrid.

Since its successful reactivation in 2005, the Chapter’s president has been a regular private sector representative who sits as Chair in the Sectoral Committee for Infrastructure in the Regional Development Council, the highest policy making body in the region. CREBALU is also active in helping the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in updating the zonal value of lands in the Province.

CREBALU continues to recruit new members to make itself an even more dynamic and effective group in reaching its charted goals, pro-active in contributing to the local endeavors that addresses the industry’s needs.
