Speech delivered at the 2011 NAR Realtors® Conference & Expo in Anaheim, California, Nov. 11, 2011

Good Morning!

CREBA, an organization of diversified real estate stakeholders, Industry players and professionals duty-bound and committed to continuously promote and adhere to its advocacies for the betterment of the real estate industry, in particular, and our nation, in general.

As the umbrella organization, CREBA is responsible for crafting various policies on real estate industry that includes tax incentives to developers of mass housing, establishment of key shelter government agencies and various related regulations benefitting the country, in particular the real estate industry in the last 37 years of existence.

Last January 27, 2011, CREBA headed by yours truly as 2011 National President and Mr. Jeff Hornberger, Director for Global Alliances representing NAR signed a memorandum of agreement in the Philippines witnessed by the Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency, Jejomar Binay.

The decision of NAR to transfer to CREBA as its local cooperating association came just in time for the implementation of a newly created law known as R.A. 9646 or Real Estate Service Act (RESA Law of 2009), a law 22 years in the making in the legislative bodies. RESA law further professionalized the real estate service practice by unifying and integrating brokers (its salespersons), appraisers/assessors into accredited and integrated professional organization (AIPO) under the supervision of a professional regulatory board of real estate service of the professional regulation commission.

CREBA again came ahead prior to the appointment of an AIPO by unifying and integrating 2 largest national organizations of brokers (PAREB and REBAP) when it formed a 7-man council known as CREBA-NAR Global Real Estate Council. The primary purpose of the Council is to assure the implementation of the various provisions of CREBA-NAR memorandum of agreement from research information exchange, products, training, services and practitioners exchange, trade missions and study tours to ensure the delivery of benefits and privileges to its members.

In the last 10 months, the Council has demonstrated its sincere commitment to the leadership and with its passion to serve and fulfill its role paved the way for the success of recruitment of about 520 international Realtor® members (IRM’s) and this only the beginning. We project a dramatic increase of membership come 2012. On behalf of the whole CREBA organization and its CREBA-NAR Global Real Estate Council present today at this momentous signing we look forward to a mutual beneficial relationship in the years ahead.
